“It was a good experience,” senior Kristy Wallace said. “I think it was good for the team to go through that. Handling adversity and being able to come out in the second half ready to go and ready to play. We just kept fighting. It was a grind.”

One of the hottest basketball teams in the country goes into one of the coldest places in the world when the fourth-ranked Baylor Lady Bears (15-1, 5-0) play Iowa State (8-9, 2-4) at 8 p.m. Wednesday at Hilton Coliseum in Ames, Iowa.
The wind-chill factor in Ames was 13-below zero Wednesday morning. But, by game time, the temperature outside the arena will warm up to a balmy 18 degrees.
“Maybe we’ll leave the doors open a little bit longer Wednesday when they get here, let them enjoy the beautiful weather here in the Midwest,” said Iowa State coach Bill Fennelly, the dean of Big 12 coaches now in his 23rd season.

Junior Bridget Carleton is the only power-5 player in the nation leading her team in points, rebounds and assists. The Chatham, Ontario, Canada native is averaging 18.0 points, 7.1 boards and 3.7 assists. She is also averaging 2.4 steals per game and 1.0 blocks per contest.
Carleton is one of 20 players in the nation named to the Cheryl Miller Award Preseason Watch List, which honors the nation’s top small forward. Carleton also earned honorable mention honors on the Big 12 preseason team for the 2017-18 season in addition to being a unanimous selection to the All-Big 12 postseason team in 2016-17.
Carleton has 1,094 career points, and is tied for 26th all-time in ISU history, just one away from passing Megan Ronhovde (1,094). Carleton eclipsed 1,000 career points in ISU’s game vs. Kansas. She currently ranks seventh in school history in career scoring average, with 14.6 points per game, passing all-time great Megan Taylor (14.1), who sits in eighth.
Iowa State ranks first in the Big 12 and is in the top-50 in the nation in 3-pointers per game (8.4). The Cyclones have four players who have netted over 20 triples on the years so far, with Carleton and Adriana Camber leading the way with 32 and 30 respectively, followed by Emily Durr with 28 and Madison Wise with 23 on the season.
Lady Bears look to continue conference dominance at Iowa State, KXXV, Kim Mulkey’s Lady Bears are making the trip to Ames, IA for a game against Iowa State. In five conference games so far, Baylor’s average margin of victory is an astounding 35 points.
Women’s Basketball: Cyclones hope Carleton’s rest can spark her versus Baylor, AmesTribune, Iowa State women’s basketball coach Bill Fennelly gave his star junior guard, Bridget Carleton, a strange set of instructions following the Cyclones’ victory over Texas Tech on Saturday.
Fennelly wanted Carleton — notorious for getting in extra work at the Sukup Basketball Complex — to stay home on Sunday, an ISU off day, rather than spend time in the gym.

Four Named McDonald’s All-Americans – Baylor University Official Athletic Site, The McDonald’s All-American Games unveiled the official roster of 24 for the premier high school basketball all-star event, which will take place on March 28 at Atlanta Philips Arena at 4 p.m. (CT) on ESPN2.
