Oskaloosa four-star power forward Xavier Foster has released his finalist schools.
It’s a list of his top five choices, in no particular order: Iowa, Iowa State, Baylor, Providence and Virginia Tech.
Iowa, Iowa State and Baylor had long been considered contenders, with Providence making a late push. Virginia Tech added a late offer July 28.
There is no set timetable for when Foster will make a decision, although sometime before his senior basketball season would be a safe bet.
He has already taken official visits to Iowa, Iowa State and Baylor. Due to NCAA rules, he has to wait a full calendar year before officially visiting the same school twice. That means a senior-year official visit to Iowa would have to take place after Sept. 7-9, and one to Iowa State would be after Oct. 12-14.
His junior-year visit to Baylor took place in June, and it’s unlikely he’ll wait until next summer to make a decision.
Foster’s father, DaJuan Foster, told the Register they haven’t yet scheduled visits to Virginia Tech and Providence, but they want to check all the schools out.
Foster is No. 1 on the Register’s Iowa and Iowa State 2020 big boards.
