Iowa State football has landed a Texas gunslinger in its 2021 recruiting class.

Charles Wright, a pro-style quarterback out of Austin (Texas) High announced his commitment to Iowa State via Twitter on Thursday. 247Sports gives him three stars and ranks him the No. 29 pro-style quarterback in the 2021 class.

Wright, who checks in at 6-foot-1 and 195 pounds, also held offers from North Texas, Texas State and UT-San Antonio. The Cyclones offered him last May and hosted him as an unofficial visitor in November.

As a junior this past season, Wright threw for 2,520 yards and 27 touchdowns.

Wright becomes Iowa State’s fourth known recruit in the 2021 class, joining in-state offensive linemen Jim Bonifas (Dubuque Senior) and Dodge Sauser (Grinnell), along with Canada receiver Tristan Michaud.
