Oklahoma Mauls Kansas, wins 41-3

No one expected the Kansas Jayhawks to be competitive against the Oklahoma Sooners today, but for most of the first half, it looked like the Kansas defense would be able to do just that.

With about two minutes left in the first half, the KU defense only had allowed a total of 60 yards rushing and 51 yards passing. They were down only 14-3 and were about to get the ball back after a punt that started them in Oklahoma territory. But after a quick three and out, the Oklahoma offense sprung to life, picking the Kansas defense apart. Of course, it didn’t help that Hasan Defense had two huge penalties that gave them huge chunks of yardage.

In the second half, Kansas looked to finally do something, moving the ball on their first drive, only to miss a 39 yard field goal. From there, they never challenged again.

The big story coming out of the game is going to be Baker Mayfield’s disrespectful actions toward Kansas after scoring a touchdown in the second half. I won’t post the video here, but I’m sure you can find it if you really want to. Kansas decided not to shake hands with him before the game, and apparently he took offense. Either way, every one acted pretty poorly in this game.

This is just another example of how far this team has fallen. There was no fight in the team once the offense showed that they weren’t going to be able to do anything. Hopefully this will be another piece of evidence that pushes Chancellor Girod to finally make a change and #FireZenger.
