Quentin Grimes to leave for NBA

Kansas wing Quentin Grimes is calling it for his college career after one season in Lawrence, per his announcement on Twitter this afternoon.

Grimes was considered somewhat of a toss-up in his potential to return next year. He was a five star recruit projected as a one-and-done lottery pick coming out of high school, but an inconsistent (and often lackluster) freshman year had some questioning whether he may follow the Wayne Selden route and stay another year or two.

As of now, that’s very unlikely happen. Per Jesse Newell, Grimes is dedicated to playing pro ball next year, which makes it sound unlikely that this move is simply to explore his draft stock.

This opens up yet another scholarship for next year, with Charlie Moore and KJ Lawson intending to transfer, and Dedric Lawson already declaring his intent to turn pro.
