K-State women fall at No. 4 Baylor

Despite a strong start, the Kansas State women’s basketball fell to No. 4 Baylor, 75-50, on the road on Saturday. With the win, the Bears swept the regular-season series against the Wildcats.

K-State (11-8, 3-5 Big 12) held Baylor to 20 percent shooting and forced six turnovers in the first six-plus minutes. During that stretch, four different players registered a field goal to give the Wildcats an early 9-6 lead.

The Lady Bears (17-1, 7-0) answered with a 10-run to close out the quarter and never looked back in the convincing win. Baylor closed the second quarter on another 10-0 run to take a 34-18 lead at the break.

Junior guard Kayla Goth led K-State with 22 points and five assists along with three rebounds and three steals. She has scored at least 20 points in four games this season.

Kalani Brown and Lauren Cox combined for 49 points and 38 rebounds for Baylor. Brown finished with 33 points and 19 rebounds, while Cox added 16 points and 19 rebounds.

For the game, Kansas State shot 31.3 percent (20-for-64) from the floor.

K-State returns to the floor Wednesday, hosting TCU at 7 p.m. at Bramlage Coliseum.
