Game day greetings, Sooner Nation! The No. 6 Oklahoma Sooners take their nation-best 21-game true road game winning streak to Lawrence, Kansas to face the Jayhawks in yet another rooster kickoff.

The slow build-up to the Red River Rivalry game is almost over, and the OU has one more gimme game on the schedule before the annual rematch against their Longhorn rivals. This week, it’s Les Miles, in his first year as head coach at Kansas, who will play the role of overmatched opponent in trying to contain the prolific Oklahoma offense. Good luck, Les. It’s been awhile.

Head on down to the comments section for the game thread, where we’ll be asking questions, making predictions and discussing the day’s action with y’all.

Prediction

I’m ready to play someone good, but this is how the scheduling cookie crumbles. The lack of quality competition for Oklahoma so far this season is a bit concerning with the Texas matchup now in clear view a week from now. Luckily, the Jayhawks present nary a chance of pulling a “looking ahead” upset, and there’s little doubt the Sooners will be ready to play next week in Dallas.

While Kansas rusher Pooka Williams Jr. ran roughshod all over Owen Field last season, to the tune of 252 yards and two touchdowns, Alex Grinch’s Speed D unit looks to have other plans and will likely take away Kansas’s biggest threat. It’ll be another chance to see Trejan Bridges at safety late in this one, with hopefully a solid heaping of snaps going into next week. It’s also probably safe to say Adrian Ealy will sit out another week on the offensive line, but we’ll see.

Speaking of the other side of the ball, the offensive explosions continue. Look for Jalen Hurts and company to put up the usual 600-plus yards of offense as the Sooner signal caller builds on his storybook Heisman campaign.

There likely won’t be any crotch grabs this afternoon in Lawrence, which is probably a good thing (although it was pretty funny last time). But there’s a good chance of a strong kick to the Jayhawks’…dignity. Sooners roll on the road.

Score: OU 53, KU 19
