Oklahoma falls to Wisconsin, 78-58

Wisconsin went 14-22 from three-point range

The Oklahoma Sooners looked to keep the momentum going against Wisconsin, but subpar perimeter defense doomed them as they fell to Wisconsin by a score of 78-58 and dropped to 4-1 on the season. OU will play the loser of the game between Virginia and Dayton tomorrow at 10:30 a.m. CT on ESPN or ESPN2.

Oklahoma displayed a lot of toughness in the first half and actually led, 28-25, at the 1:50 mark. However, OU trailed 31-28 at the half and started the second on a sour note. With Jamuni McNeace on the bench with three fouls, Wisconsin began to get some things going down low and created a bit of an early gap. Things got worse as the perimeter defense began to break down, and the Badgers ended the day 14-22 from three-point range. The Badgers’ D’Mitrik Trice did a sizable chunk of the damage, sinking seven of his eight three-point attempts.

Offensively, Oklahoma never able truly get going against a really solid defensive team. However, Christian James did quite well, scoring 18 points and going 7-12 from the field and 4-8 from three.

Virginia and Dayton will face off at 3 p.m. CT on ESPN, with the loser meeting Oklahoma in Friday’s third-place game.
