Altrique Barlow picks the Horned Frogs!

The offensive lineman is the latest to commit to TCU’s 2020 recruiting class.

The good news keeps coming in for TCU Football when it comes to their 2020 class, as another east coast star prospect made his choice Thursday afternoon.

Altrique Barlow, out of Bishop Sullivan High School, is the second commitment out of Virginia Beach, VA in the last week, joining defensive back Keontae Jenkins, who pledged last week. Barlow is what pundits refer to as a “grown a** man”, a specimen at 6’4” and 300 pounds. The All-American offensive tackle may be a three star recruit, but he’s a top ten player in the state with offers from Virginia Tech and Auburn among others.

He’s exactly the kind of prospect that Chris Thomson and TCU love to develop. And Barlow knows that the coaching staff will get the most out of him, as he told Larry Robama of the Pilot Online. “Coach Thomsen is one of the best offensive line coaches in college football. They’ve been putting guys in the league at my position for years now.”

Barlow chose TCU for several reasons, chief among them the opportunity to play for a staff with the track record of Gary Patterson’s. He also relishes the chance to be a part of the first recruiting class from the Virginia Beach area – one that currently stands two strong with potentially one more on the way. Fort Worth and the TCU campus appealed to him as well, as he was looking for the best of both worlds when it comes to a school. “My main thing is that I always wanted a big-school feel with a small atmosphere.”

Barlow and Jenkins are two of three TCU recruits to commit in the class of 2020, joining Hutto, TX WR Dajon Harrison in the country’s 53rd-rated class. They’ll now hope for the Virginia Beach trifecta, as they wait on the decision of Barlow’s high school teammate, three star safety Nekhi Meredith.

Congrats to Altrique and welcome to the #FrogFam! Check out his junior season highlights below:
