TCU picked up a commitment from a big target out of Oklahoma Sunday afternoon.
TCU continues to mine Oklahoma for talented players, adding the third prospect from the Sooner state Sunday afternoon with the commitment of wide receiver Blake Nowell, a three star prospect out of Ardmore.

Nowell is a big target at 6’4”, the second tall wide receiver the Frogs have added this cycle. He chose TCU over nine other offers, including Army, Navy, Air Force, Kansas State, and noted tall WR collection agency Iowa State. He joins Caleb Medford in the class of 2020 at the position, as well as fellow Oklahomans Eli Williams, a three star quarterback, and Dominic Richardson, a three star running back. He was recruited by former Sooner great Malcolm Kelly, who has made a big impact on the recruiting trail for TCU since joining the staff earlier this year.
Nowell is regarded as one of the top prospects in Oklahoma, and the small-town star is starting to get noticed by bigger programs after a junior year that saw him catch 45 passes for 832 yards (18.5 yards per) and 13 touchdowns. He also rushed for just under 150 yards and added a score on the ground. The Frogs have been looking for a tall target with good ball skills for a while, and Nowell looks like a good fit alongside Medford and returning players John Stephens, Jr, Tevaillance Hunt, and Ni’Keel Meeking. If one of those guys can step up to be a legit #2 opposite Jalen Reagor, it could be a great year for TCU Football.
Nowell is a solid route runner with enough speed to have been a dangerous kick returner for Plainview High. He understands how to go get the ball and doesn’t seem bothered by contact at the line. He might be a bit developmental based on the level of competition he has seen so far, but has the skillset and the frame to be a productive player at the next level.
TCU’s class of 2020 has grown to seven strong quickly – the first commitment was less than three weeks ago. In addition to Medford, Williams, and Richardson, the Horned Frogs have pledges from tackle Altrique Barlow, cornerback Keontae Jenkins, and defensive end James Sylvester.
