IRVING, Texas – The Big 12 Conference announced Thursday the selection of Texas junior Olivia Anderson as the league’s Women’s Swimmer of the Week and UT junior Murphy Bromberg as the Big 12 Women’s Diver of the Week.
Anderson swept the breaststroke events as Texas remained unbeaten and finished off its sixth dual meet win of the season on Monday over Auburn. Her 27.37 breaststroke split on UT’s 200 medley relay “B” entry was by far the fastest among the seven breaststroke swimmers in the relay.
The two-time U.S. Olympic Trials semifinalist trails only a pair of Texas teammates as the Big 12’s second-fastest swimmer in the 100 and 200 breaststroke events.
Bromberg helped the Texas women win the team title and helped UT win the combined team title (men’s and women’s) last month at the USA Diving Winter National Championships. She also was recognized with the Wendy Wyland Award for perseverance.
Bromberg posted a pair of top-six finishes at the USA Diving Winter Nationals, and she took that momentum into the Horns next dual meet against Auburn (Jan. 8), where she won the one-meter event and took second on three-meter.
