Longhorns tennis players honored with Big 12 postseason awards

Longhorns tennis players on both the men’s and women’s teams were honored Wednesday as the Big 12 doled out postseason awards.

Christian Sigsgaard was named Big 12 Co-Player of the Year while men’s interim head coach Bruce Berque earned the honor of Coach of the Year.

For the women, Bianca Turati, Anna Turati, Petra Granic and Katie Poluta each earned postseason honors.

The Turati sisters and Granic each took a spot on the All-Big 12 singles first team. Texas is the only team to have more than one player named to the first team.

Poluta shared an honor as co-champion of singles at the No. 6 spot. Anna Turati is the champion at No. 2 singles, and Granic is the champion at No. 3 singles.

The Turati twins are All-Big 12 in doubles.

Yuya Ito made the men’s first team in singles while Harrison Scott made the second team. Scott also joined Sigsgaard on the doubles first team.

The Longhorns tennis teams begin the NCAA Tournament this weekend.
