No. 5 Volleyball’s Ogbogu named Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week

AUSTIN, Texas – No. 5 Texas Volleyball senior Chiaka Ogbogu has been named Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week, the Big 12 Conference announced on Monday.

Ogbogu led the Longhorns in their lone match of the week with nine blocks, including two solo, to lead the nation’s No. 1 block to an 11.0-5.0 advantage in their win versus TCU.

Ogbogu ranks first in the Big 12 in blocks per set (1.62) in all matches and fourth in NCAA Division I.

As a team, Texas ranks first in the country with 3.44 blocks per set through 14 matches.

The weekly honor marks the third-straight Big 12 weekly honor for the Longhorns, fifth overall, sixth for Ogbogu in her career, and first for her in 2017.
