Jarrett Culver named to Lute Olson Award Watch List

The nation takes notice of Culver’s breakout season.

After a satisfying victory against Oklahoma where he put up 23 points, 13 rebounds and 2 assists, Jarrett Culver has been named to the 2018-2019 Lute Olson Award Mid-Season Watch List. The award is presented to the nation’s top Division I player in College Basketball, and Culver is making a strong case: averaging 19 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 3.9 assists per game.

Following the performance against Oklahoma, Lubbock’s native has now scored 20 or more points in seven games this season, including a career-high 30 points against Abilene Christian. With the success of the Red Raiders, who sit 14-1 on the season (3-0 Big 12), Culver has drawn plenty of attention from the national media. In addition to the Lute Olson Award Watch List, he has also landed on the Jerry West Award Watch List (top shooting guards in Division I) and the Oscar Robertson Trophy Midseason Watch List (outstanding player in Division I). There are plenty of games left, but if Culver continues this trend he will leave this season with some serious hardware.
