West Virginia was #6 in the country last season when Iowa State upset the Mountaineers, 30-14. Many Mountaineers remember that game and are motivated by it, as they prepare to face the Cyclones this week.
The Mountaineers are preparing to host the Iowa State Cyclones. ISU is coming off of a big, 49-24, over TCU. Check out this breakdown of West Virginia’s matchup with the Cyclones.
West Virginia head coach Neal Brown provided an injury update on two of WVU’s most productive wide receivers. Sophomore Sean Ryan and redshirt freshman Sam James were knocked out of the Texas game due to injury, but one of those Mountaineers could be back for the WVU’s game against Iowa State this week.
Preseason workouts have started and sophomore guard Jordan McCabe is excited about what he is seeing from the team so far. McCabe has noted that it is apparent that the Mountaineers want to work hard and succeed this year.
The West Virginia women’s basketball team had three Mountaineers honored on the Preseason All-Big 12 Team. Redshirt senior guard Tynice Martin was named to the Preseason All-Big 12 Team, while sophomores Kari Niblack and Madisen Smith made the honorable mention list.
West Virginia Athletics
The #25 West Virginia golf team won The Health Plan Mountaineer Invitational in Bridgeport earlier this week. Three Mountaineers finished in the top ten individually, and the team shot even par to win the event.
Fall Break has begun for students at WVU, but some Mountaineers will be hard at work tonight. The West Virginia women’s soccer team will be facing #14 Texas Tech tonight at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium. WVU leads the all-time series with TTU 7-2-1.
The West Virginia volleyball team is facing Kansas tonight on Big 12 Now/ESPN+. This match is the first of three road matches for the Mountaineers, all of which will be aired on ESPN+.
The West Virginia men’s soccer team faced a tough opponent when the Mountaineers travelled to Chapel Hill to face #18 North Carolina. UNC came out on top with a 3-1 over WVU. Junior midfielder Pau Jimenez Albelda was the only Mountaineer to score, which was his first goal as a WVU player.
In Week 5 of the 2019 NFL season, former Mountaineer Kyzir White bagged his first interception of the season for the Los Angeles Charger, West Virginia native Trevon Wesco recorded his first career start for the New York Jets, and Karl Joseph and Daryl Worley led the Oakland Raiders to a victory in London.
