TCU men’s basketball has seen its entire 2018 class enter the NCAA transfer portal | The Star-Telegram

Heck of a headline there, Drew.

Backup sophomore center Russell Barlow became the last player from the class to enter the portal on Monday, according to sources.

Barlow joins former classmates Kendric Davis, Angus McWilliam and Kaden Archie as early enrollees who transferred from the program. Another member of the 2018 class, JUCO center Yuat Alok, departed.

Davis left the school last summer and headed to SMU. McWilliam and Archie departed in the middle of last season with McWilliam landing at UC Riverside and Archie at UTEP. Alok went to Central Florida.

Barlow, a 6-foot-10 sophomore, has played sparingly this season, averaging 4.8 minutes in five games. He has yet to score and did not play in TCU’s last two games against Illinois State and USC.

Pebley’s squad is quietly off to an impressive start.

TCU started 11-1 last season en route to a 24-11 finish. The previous best start to a season for the Horned Frogs came in 2003-04, when TCU started 6-0 and went on to reach the second round of the NCAA tournament and finish 25-7.

Pebley said the 7-0 start is nice, but it’s not something she’ll spend a lot of time reflecting on at this point.

“It’s one of those things that means something when you have the moment and time and perspective to approach it and enjoy it,” Pebley said. “But we’re such a program about where our feet are right now, focus on that. Just lock in on what is happening right now. But 7-0 is a lot better than being 0-7, but we’ll celebrate that at another point.”

A&M has also recently offered, but man, get me Omar Manning back in Fort Worth, please!

The Frogs are looking for receivers and defensive ends to fill out the class. They also wouldn’t mind adding a four-star quarterback like Chandler Morris to the mix as well.

Speaking of talented playmakers, an old name is beginning to pop up again for the Frogs and it seems to get more interesting by the day.

TCU VIP recruiting notes from the weekend | 247 Sports

Keeping Holiday is a top priority for TCU, who desperately needs the explosive playmaker in purple.

– One prospect that’s been the topic of discussion this week has been Jimmy Holiday. The Frogs know they’re in an all-out battle with Tennessee to keep his commitment. As soon as the Frogs’ offensive staff wrapped up their Sunday with Douglas, they hopped on a plane to Mississippi to have an in-home with Holiday and his family on Sunday night (as I type this). It would not surprise me in the least if the topic of quarterback comes up at some point, especially with the limited number of quarterbacks on the roster. Hopefully there will be some good news on that front in the future.
